There are no registration fees.
Attendees are responsible for travel arrangements (including lodging, transportation, food, etc.).
Your institution may pay for costs associated with attending the meeting and training series using your LSTA grant funds.

This orientation meeting is addressed to project leads/managers and administrators at each institution, who will be
responsible for coordinating or overseeing project activities. This web-based conference call is open to multiple staff per institution.
August 2011 Minimizing Legal Risks in Digitization Projects Format: in-person workshop Host: InfoPeople Time/Date: All-day meeting. Tuesday 8/16/11 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The workshop will provide an introduction to basic copyright concepts, situating it as one of many ways to protect content;
discuss copyright terms, methods for determining the copyright status of a work, and obtaining permission to publish copyrighted
materials; provide an overview of "fair use" and Section 108 principles; and highlight additional legal concerns. Please bring a
small group (ca. 5 items) of original items -- or photocopies of the original items -- that are representative of collections that
you are planning to digitize.
The workshop is addressed to project leads/managers and staff at each institution, who will be directly responsible for
selecting materials for scanning and conducting rights assessments. Up to two staff per institution may attend.

This conference call will provide an overview of the LHDRP Handbook descriptive and rights metadata guidelines, for the purpose of cataloging
in CONTENTdm. Please have a small group (ca. 5 items) of original items – on hand-- that are representative of collections that you are
planning to digitize.
The meeting is addressed to project leads/managers and staff at each institution, who will be directly responsible for preparing metadata
for cataloging in CONTENTdm. This web-based conference call is open to multiple staff per institution.
Late September 2011 LHDRP Scanning Format: in-person meeting Host: Califa and Luna Imaging Time/Date: Wednesday 9/21/11 from 10:00am to 3:30pm.
This meeting, which includes a a guided tour of the Luna facilities, will provide an overview of the process for sending materials to
Luna Imaging for scanning, including the shipping process, working with an online tracking tool to prepare packing lists, receiving
deliverables, quality control checking, and other considerations. Please have a small group (ca. 5 items) of original items -- or
photocopies of the original items -- that are representative of collections that you are planning to digitize.
The meeting is addressed to project leads/managers and staff at each institution, who will be directly responsible for the
scanning process. Up to two staff per institution may attend.

November 2011 Creating Digital Objects with CONTENTdm Format: in-person workshop Host: Christine Peterson Date/Time: Tuesday 11/1/11 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
A basic level hands-on workshop designed to assist institutions in understanding how to use CONTENTdm to create digital collections
based on LHDRP specifications. CONTENTdm is used to create, manage, and make digital collections available on the web. Workshop topics
include: CONTENTdm highlights; collection-building tutorial; and LHDRP metadata and controlled vocabulary implementation.
The workshop is addressed to project leads/managers and staff at each institution, who will be directly responsible for preparing
metadata for cataloging in CONTENTdm and for using the software. Up to two staff per institution may attend.
